Our story

we got tired of choosing.

Klean Khao started because we were frustrated. This is how two friends who love Thai food and train hard ended up opening a rice bowl shop in Thonglor.

The problem

Bangkok has incredible food. Eating clean every day is another story.

If you train and care about what goes into your food, your options shrink fast. Most days it came down to two choices.

Option one

heavy and convenient.

Fast, tasty, everywhere. Fried in seed oils, heavy on sugar and MSG, and you feel it by 3pm.

or
Option two

clean but a hassle.

Plain chicken and broccoli, cooked at home on Sunday. Healthy enough, but it doesn't taste like Thailand.

we wanted something better, so we built it.

Why rice
rice feeds families.it feeds the country.it feeds us.

Rice is the foundation of life here, so it is the foundation of every bowl. Instead of waiting for a modern rice brand to appear, we built one. Our jasmine rice is cooked with pandan, lemongrass and kaffir lime, and we also serve riceberry, red rice and quinoa.

Who we are

Two friends, two worlds, one bowl.

Mike

Co-founder

Mike moved to Thailand and built his life here. He trains almost every day and thinks long-term about energy and health. He wanted food that fuels a hard session and still tastes like the city he calls home.

Pat

Co-founder

Pat is Thai through and through. He understands local ingredients and how rice should be respected. That respect is why every bowl starts with the rice.

  • Thai through and through
  • Knows local ingredients
  • Respects the rice

Klean Khao sits between those worlds: real Thai flavour, cooked to an athlete's standard.

What we stand for

Three things we hold onto.

modern but rooted.

Macros on the menu and seed-oil-free cooking, built on krapao, jaew and satay, the flavours this city grew up on.

minimal but warm.

White walls, wooden tables and a menu small enough to get every bowl right.

clean but satisfying.

Real portions and real protein. You should leave full and feel good an hour later.
